Time to Say Thank You

Posted by Fordham SportsNet on December 15, 2008

fordham4The Fordham basketball teams are off for finals this week so Fordham SportsNet would like to take the time to thank the following supporters of our site:

  • A very special thank you to Joe DiBari, Fordham Sports Information Director, for his support of our website, most recently Mr. DiBari’s generosity in posting a link to our site on fordhamsports.com, and providing fordhamsportsnet.com with game photographs to use on our site. Mr. Dibari and Scott Kwiatkowski, Assistant Sports Information Director, have been great in accommodating our requests and we are very grateful for their time and generosity.
  • Fordham SportsNet would also like to thank 90.7FM WFUV for having Charles Costello on as a halftime guest during Fordham’s win last Monday against Lafayette. Fordhamsportsnet.com experienced its most successful night of traffic following that broadcast. Once again, thank you to WFUV for the publicity and for their excellent coverage of Fordham sports.
  • Thanks also to fordhamfans.com for help with publicizing our site. After the halftime interview, links to fordhamsportsnet.com, and comments about our site, were posted on the fordhamfans website and we have experienced a steady stream of traffic ever since. A link to fordhamfans.com can now be found on our website. We thank fordhamfans.com for doing the same for our site.
  • And thank you to all who have visited fordhamsportsnet.com. We look forward to continuing to bring you comprehensive coverage of the Fordham basketball teams throughout the season, and we are excited about enhancements to our site and expanded coverage of other Fordham sports and Fordham topics in the very near future.

Last Night’s Live Blog

Posted by Fordham SportsNet on December 4, 2008

Great response to Fordham SportsNet’s first live blog last night, covering the Fordham-Hofstra men’s basketball game from Hempstead. What a thrill it was to bring to our readers live updates and running commentary, as the Rams, despite a strong first half, fell to 0-6 on the year with a 60-40 loss to the Pride.

Special thanks to all of you who checked in last night. Fordham SportsNet would also like to thank WFUV Radio for their outstanding call of last night’s game, helping us provide you with entertaining, insightful information throughout the game. We will update readers in the near future on when Fordham SportsNet will provide the next live blog of Fordham basketball.

Live Blog Tomorrow Night

fordhamFordham SportsNet will add a new feature to the site Wednesday, presenting the first live blog of Fordham basketball.

Tomorrow night the men’s basketball team travels to Hempstead, New York to take on the Hofstra Pride. Throughout the course of the game (7:00, 90.7FM and WFUV.org) Fordham SportsNet will provide updates, scoring summaries, commentary, and running thoughts on all the action. We also encourage readers of the site to get involved by contributing their comments.

Fordham SportsNet looks forward to providing this in-game blog as a service to our readers, and will continue to cover both the men’s and women’s teams throughout the season with game reports, news, and commentary.

Just a reminder, the women return to the U.S. tomorrow night for a 7:00 contest at Georgetown. The game can be heard live on WFUV.org.

Welcome to Fordham SportsNet

Posted by Fordham SportsNet on November 14, 2008

fordham1Welcome to the brand new website, fordhamsportsnet.com.

Fordham SportsNet will start out covering the 2008-2009 Fordham men’s and women’s basketball teams. It is the goal of this website to provide Fordham fans with the most comprehensive and insightful coverage of Fordham basketball. In the future, the site will expand its coverage to Fordham football, in time for the 2009 season. Along the way, we hope to include other sports and Fordham related stories on this site. In addition, the site will serve as an opportunity for fan interaction and discussion.

Fordham sports are a big part of the New York sports scene. From Rose Hill to the homes of Fordham graduates and sports fans alike, this site will provide readers with game recaps, commentary, profiles, and news updates. Up to this point, 90.7FM WFUV Radio has been the only indpendent source for comprehensive coverage of Fordham basketball and football. The Daily News, New York Post, and other local newspapers have provided coverage, but not the type of daily, in-depth stories that Fordham fans deserve and crave. We hope to become the place where Fordham fans visit to get updated news and information.

Special thanks to Joe Dibari, Sports Information Director, and Scott Kwiatkowski, Assistant Sports Information Director, for granting Fordham SportsNet press access for the upcoming basketball season.

Tonight is the season opener for both the men’s and women’s teams. We will be back later today with a preview and we’ll be at Rose Hill tonight for the doubleheader.

In the meantime, welcome to Fordham SportsNet, and enjoy!
