This site was good for the rams and that was what kept me coming back. I cannot believe you picked the Jets and SNY over Fordham...I guess its all about the Benjamins and not the Dagger Johns. Best of luck! You will be missed. I didnt always agree with some of you sycophant rants, but I always respected the press you gave Fordham. Will you be providing interviews and such of the players? I would like to see something of the new players and their transition so far and expectations heading into camp next week.....do you have that sort of access? Yes, I said that the message board was a place for fans to vent, but in no way did I mean that in a disparaging way. Fordham has one of the liveliest boards around, and people are free to have their opinions and to share them. Having said that, at times I've disagreed with the tone and nature of the comments, especially when they turn personal, and especially considering that they're anonymous. But hey, the board's posters disagree with what I say all the time, and I respect their right to do so. Let me be clear: In no way was I taking shots at the message board. The Rose Hill Gym and Jack Coffey Field wouldn't be the same without it. On a selfish note, it helps direct traffic to my website. But this is really about freedom of opinion and expression, and for that, the board serves a purpose that no other outlet can match. I only hope that in the future our discussion can be more civil. Comment on GEORGE M. STEINBRENNER III (1930-2010) by garlicandgaelic http://fordhamsportsnet.com/2010/07/13/george-m-steinbrenner-iii-1930-2010/#comment-676 garlicandgaelic Sat, 24 Jul 2010 10:12:20 +0000 http://fordhamsportsnet.com/?p=1899#comment-676 I never knew George Steinbrenner. I heard lots of stories about his humility as a man and his dignity off the field. I know nothing of that. All I know is what I see. He was BAD for baseball. In signing Reggie Jackson, he led the way to the astronomical salaries (and ticket prices) that the game today produces. He was a perennial loser as a business man and his only success with the Yankees came in the late 70s after buying Reggie, Catfish and Goose from other teams. The Yankees were an absolute joke during his prime years of the 80s. After he was sent away for digging up dirt on Dave Winfield, it was other people (Gene Michael, I think) that laid the foundation for the championship run the Yankes had in the 90s. Steinbrenner gets far too much credit as an owner and probably not enough credit as a man. I never knew George Steinbrenner. It was an important service and brought positive ink to Fordham. I am happy for your progress. Fordham supporters owe you a debt of gratitude. Charles:
